Lauterbrunnen
While planning for our tour, I became the most excited for the free day in Switzerland! I had planned out an entire daily itinerary from dawn to dusk! However, I kept myself flexible and that turned out to be a good thing! After a wonderful meal and some fondue lessons, we got a full nights sleep and woke up ready to hit the hills! The mountain was beautiful, the flowers in full bloom! I was fascinated by the lifestyle of the locals. The use of gondolas, the absence of roads, the sounds of the cowbells, and the lavish landscape made Switzerland my favorite overall country. This being said, I have to admit I'm definately more of a country/mountain girl than a city slicker! We took an easy hike in the morning, shared a picnic in the afternoon, then a majority of our group parasailed back to the canyon floor. This was not in my original plans, but turned out to be my greatest adventure!! The Lauterbrunnen Valley was majestic and surrounded by dozens of beautiful waterfalls. The alps had a lovely snow cap and a lush green hillside. The hills were spotted with chickens, cows and goats! The cows wore cowbells and made the most pleasant ringing sound that echoed through the valley!
Parasailing
If anyone would have asked me what my most daring adventure was going to be, I would not have said Parasailing. In fact, it was only at the last minute that I decided to go ahead and give it a try. WOW! This was the best spent of all my splurge money! Aunt Linda and I decided that we would give it a try on the last trip of the day! It was such an incredible experience. From high above the Valley floor we were able to see waterfalls that we would have otherwise not seen. My pilot, Dave, said the conditions were perfect during our flight, because of this we were in flight for over an hour! After our flight, Dave took Linda and I back to our hotel. Then he and I went next door for coffee and chatted for a few hours about our cultures and lives. My mushy side was a bit smitten when he made my coffee and drew in a heart.. What a sweetheart! Parasailing taught me that sometimes our greatest adventures are the ones we didn't plan to take! Now, I can not only say I went parasailing, but that I went parasailing in the Swiss Alps!!
